Announcing Our NEW Product!

Did you know? I will leave you hanging for just a minute and come back to this question - don't leave me here now because it is actually pretty interesting and worth the wait!
We all know olive wood is some of the most beautiful wood in the world. It has become increasingly popular because of its durability, appearance and availability. Strong and sturdy, olive wood was first cultivated from Olive Trees in the Mediterranean and continue to flourish within the region and all over the world. We source ours from the Morocco region. Olive trees are prized for their fruit and the oils they produce, yet, just as valuable is the wood itself. Olive wood with its dramatic grain patterns make it a favorite for many foodies in their kitchens. It is an extremely hard wood that makes it an amazing hardworking tool in the kitchen.
WASH - your olive wood carefully.  Be sure to use a mild soap and wash with warm water. Never put it in the dishwasher.
TREAT - your wood with tender loving care. Letting your wood air dry or exposing it to unnecessary exposure to water leaves it vulnerable to swelling and eventually cracking.  Be sure to use a lint free hand towel to dry it after washing.

PRESERVE - your wood with these simple steps: 1) Occasionally sanitize your wood using lemon juice and salt. This will keep the wood clean and free of germs. 2) Preserve the woods natural grain and maintain well moisturized wood with a food safe mineral or wax. We recommend Landcaster Cast Iron Wood Wax with its organic bees wax, mineral oil and yummy lemon aroma.

Did you know? By the way, thanks for hanging in there with me!

With our ever-increasing awareness of the environmental impacts of the products we use, the good news is that olive trees are not listed as a threatened species. Even though they take a very long time to grow, they are actually considered a by-product of the agricultural industry and eventually stop bearing fruit. At this point, the Olive tree is then harvested not by cutting down a whole tree, but rather pruning selected parts after the tree is no longer bearing fruit. So olive wood is not only beautiful but sustainable and eco-friendly as well.
